It seems that tragedies in general, and death specifically, create fertile soil which fosters some of the most profound music-- albums such as Steven Curtis Chapman's 'Beauty Will Rise' is the fruit of that fertile ground. It's difficult to say 'I loved this album' because of the nature of the album. 'Beauty Will Rise' really resonated with me because the single 'Heaven is the Face' was released around the time of my younger brothers death. Steven shows not only his faith but the questioning that virtually everyone faces when we enter dark times in our lives. Chapman shows his emotions and his questioning with a sincerity and genuineness that can speak to anyone. For me personally, this album, while containing some of the most profound music I have ever heard, is very difficult for me to listen to. I couldn't even begin to understand the pain of losing a child and a pain that, I pray daily, I never have to experience. I truly admire Chapman's persistent faith that God is in control.
